This charming 4 Star, 300 year old limestone cottage (sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms) is situated, with others of its age, just off the village green in the unspoilt medieval village of
Castleton, dating back to Norman times and located in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

Accommodation
Originally a bakery, Oatcake Cottage with its exposed beams and trusses sleeps four, with one double bedroom and one twin bedroom and there is a bathroom with shower over.

On the ground floor there is a beamed lounge with original gritstone fire-place and 'coal effect' stove, with TV/DVD/Video.

Off the lounge is the dining room with pay-phone and the country kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer and a traditional Belfast sink.

* Centrally heated throughout.

* No smoking. Sorry, no pets.

Outside
Oatcake has a steeply terraced garden, unsuitable for toddlers, with seating on each tier and with stunning views of the High Peak hills that surround the village.

Locally there is good walking, fossil finding, climbing, caving, hang-gliding and cycling or you can potter around
Castleton village with its Norman church and castle, 5 caves, shops, pubs, restaurants and tea shops.

Castleton makes an excellent base for exploring the Peak Park and for visiting Chatsworth House and Gardens, Haddon Hall, Buxton with its Opera House and also the market town of Bakewell. And, 'Oatcake' is a cosy cottage nestling below the castle where in the evening you can relax and listen to the chimes of St Edmund's church clock at the end of the day.
